The funeral of Mrs. Lucinda SMITH 76 who died at her home, 312 E. Franklin Street, Thursday morning at 8:30 with bronchial pneumonia after an illness of a few days will be held at the late residence Saturday morning at 10. The friends may view the remains prior to that time as the funeral will be private. The deceased was the daughter of Jon L. HANKINS, prosperous farmer who resided for many years 3 miles NW of Alamo. She was born in Hamilton Co OH where she was married to Myrick S. Smith Oct 26, 1856. After their marriage they moved to Fayette County Indiana living there until coming to make their home in this city in 1869. The follow year they moved into their home on Franklin Street. Mr. Smith was one of the prominent men of the city. His death occurred 1904. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Methodist Church and was a woman of sterling character. She had enjoyed her usual health until Monday night. Wednesday her illness became alarming. She was the mother of two sons one died in infancy. Her son Alaric M. Smith of this city survives. Three brothers, Albert Hankins of New Market; Theodore Hankins of New Ross and Alex Hankins of Boswell; and 3 sisters, Mrs. Asher Wert, city; Mrs. Jane Barton, New Market and Mrs. Carrie Brown, Bellington Washington survive. -- typed by kbz
